Thompson has translation of Quebecois poetry collection published - Fredonia.edu - Translation

Dr. Rebecca Thompson

Department of World Languages and Cultures Adjunct Lecturer Rebecca Thompson has had her first book-length translation, a poetry collection titled "Little Wet-Paint Girl," published.

The collection, originally titled "Métissée," is by Québécois poet and psychiatrist Dr. Ouanessa Younsi. It focuses on identity, belonging and the dichotomy between presence and absence, and is inspired by Younsi's childhood as the mixed-race daughter of a Québécois mother and an Algerian father.

The translation is forthcoming from Athabasca University Press and has been called "a visionary memoir of self-discovery" by the University of Chicago Press.
