Yakuza: Black Panther 2 English Fan Translation Is Out Now - TheGamer - Translation
TeamK4L's fan translation of Kurohyou 2: Ryu ga Gotoku Ashura-hen, or Yakuza: Black Panther 2, has finally been released. The 2012 PSP game was only ever released in Japan and has never received an English translation until now.
One of the many Yakuza spin-offs that never quite escaped Japan, Yakuza: Black Panther 2 tells the ongoing saga of Tatsuya Ukyo, a high school dropout who fell into underground boxing. His illegal career eventually gets Tatsuya wrapped up in a conspiracy with the Yakuza, ultimately leading to closer ties to the Tojo Clan of Kamurocho.
The Black Panther spin-offs were quite popular in Japan with both a live-action series and a manga adaptation. The first game was translated many years ago, but the translation only covered the main campaign and not the many side quests that litter every Yakuza game. TeamK4L might return to the first Black Panther once they’ve fully completed translating Black Panther 2.
As you can see from the trailer, nearly everything about Black Panther 2 has been translated to English subtitles, from the opening cinematic to the in-game menus. The only thing that hasn't been translated is the hostess minigame, which TeamK4L hopes to complete soon.
Our own Meg Pelliccio sat down to talk to TeamK4L's Augmented Smoke about the driving force behind this fan translation. "The main drive for creating the localization was honestly so that my friends could play the second Kurohyou game after absolutely loving the first game. Initially, it was going to just be a story explanation, then recorded videos with English subs, and then it snowballed."
You can download the Yakuza: Black Panther 2 English fan translation patch here. Keep in mind that this is just a patch and you'll need to have a copy of the game already, which means either having an ISO file on your PC or a modded PSP. Instructions to download and install the mod are available on TeamK4L’s website.

But what if the sign is confusing due to bad grammar?
The editors at Merriam-Webster Dictionary had some fun with a City of Toronto sign posted at a local park.
On their Twitter account Wednesday, the editors posted a photo of the sign with the challenge: “Reword this sign to make it sound less weird.”
The sign, which cites Toronto Municipal Code #608, reads: “Dogs that dig holes must have owners fill them in immediately.”

City spokesman Brad Ross said the sign at Coronation Park has been taken down and will be put back up reworded.
“It is confusing,” Ross said Friday, with a chuckle.
“I’m not sure a dog has the ability to problem solve and tell its owner what to do. Certainly that’s how it reads and we acknowledge that,” he said. “It could use an edit so the sign is down and I think it’s safe to say there are probably other signs that are perhaps in need of an edit so we are looking at that.”
Ross said he wasn’t sure how the rewording would read.
“The message is still the same, grammar aside: A dog digs a hole in the park, please fill in the hole, not the dog, after.”
The municipal code in question dates back to 2007, he added.

Which word inspired Merriam-Webster dictionary to quote the Burlington Free Press? - Yahoo News - Dictionary
The Burlington Free Press had the distinction of being quoted by the dictionary.
On Wednesday, Merriam-Webster sent out its word of the day: stir-crazy. In a section called "stir-crazy in context," the dictionary quoted a recent Burlington Free Press article for an example of the word being used.
"Trying to decide what to do with stir-crazy Vermont kids in winter? Maybe they are home from school on break … and want easy, indoor winter fun. There are a variety of places and attractions that will let your child's creativity, imagination and energy soar, away from the confines of their regular space." — April Barton, The Burlington (Vermont) Free Press, 10 Dec. 2021

The quote came from an article about fun, indoor places to visit to get kids out of the house while they may be cooped up during the long, winter months. And the timing was spot on — the day prior, Vermont kids were likely to be stir-crazy while they were stuck at home and inside because extreme wind chill temperatures had caused many schools to close for the day.

The dictionary's sample sentence using the word of the day was also very Vermont-y: "Guests at the ski lodge began going stir-crazy after Day 3 of being snowed in by the blizzard."
